Pete Doherty Caught Injecting Heroin on Film

Pete Doherty has been caught injecting heroin on film, just hours after claiming he was drugs free.
The Babyshambles rocker is shown in the footage - shot on a mobile phone at his Wiltshire home on Friday (02.11.07) - 'cooking up' the class A drug in a spoon before filling up a needle and sticking it into his right arm.

Pete, 28, is seen still wearing the green wristband from the MTV Europe Music Awards in Germany the night before, at which he boasted he was still clean after spending six weeks in rehab and even joked he "missed" hard drugs.

A source told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "It's not the first time he's injected since he was supposed to have got clean. He may have got clean through rehab, but as soon as the temptation is put in front of him, he cannot help himself.

A Neolib New Deal?:

Omigod, not the Web site! Will Saletan argues the fuss over Lieberman's downed Web site shows the Internet has "arrived" as a force in politics:

... [I]n the election's final hours, the Lieberman campaign treated the crash of its Web site as fatal sabotage, and the media and law enforcement took the charge seriously. Losing your Web site on Election Day is now regarded as the equivalent of having your phones jammed or your TV ads rejected by stations. Even for campaigns that don't use it well, the Web has become not just an asset, but a necessity.

Hmmm. Here's an alternative theory: Lieberman "treated the crash of its Web site as fatal sabotage" because that was a great anti-Lamont story for him to have in the headlines during the last 24 hours of the campaign! I doubt the Web site was particularly vital to the incumbent senator's old-fashioned campaign.

New mental health centres for youth

The Federal Health Minister Nicola Roxon has announced the establishment of 20 new treatment centres for young people with mental illness.

The centres will be located mostly in regional and rural areas and will help young people at risk of mental health, drug and alcohol problems.

The Government says as many as one-in-four young people have a mental health problem.

The Minister says the need for more youth services is particularly urgent in regional areas where communities continue to struggle with the impact of drought and high unemployment.

Young people have welcomed the announcement. 21-year-old Carla Frost of Melbourne was treated in an adult facility several years ago and she says it was a frightening experience.

"I sort of thought oh my God that could be me," she said.

Jonathan Rhys-Meyers to move in with Pete Doherty

Jonathan Rhys-Meyers is reportedly set to move in with Pete Doherty. The actor has become close friends with the troubled rocker, following the death of Jonathan's beloved mother last month, and the pair are now said to be hunting for a pad in east London together. Jonathan, who plays Henry VIII in hit TV show 'The Tudors', was left homeless after ex-girlfriend Reena Hammer forced him to move out of her Camden home. .

Restoration brings glow back to BGE and downtown

The Lexington Street construction fences are now down at Baltimore Gas and Electric Co.'s former headquarters. After months of renovation, one of downtown's most dignified office buildings (1916) has been reinvented by being made into apartments. I can't think of a better boost to this downtown Baltimore neighborhood.

I pushed through the big revolving doors yesterday and found the lobby looking the best it's appeared in my memory. This preservation-driven rehab has exposed limestone walls hidden by unfortunate attempts at modernization in the groovy 1960s. Not everything is World War I-era here: The lobby is clean and fresh, with a honey wood tone lobby reception desk and new light fixtures.
