Boosters slow to join GOP race
Bill Richardson, a Democrat, because he was the only Hispanic running for the White House. "I think as a Latino, we all have a responsibility to back qualified Latinos," Sosa said. After Richardson's withdrawal from the race, Sosa threw his support behind McCain, largely because of his stance on immigration reform. But while many of Bush's one-time South Texas backers have flocked to McCain, Giuliani and Romney, others appear to be waiting for a consensus candidate to emerge. "There is a wait-and-see attitude out there," J. Bruce Bugg Jr. said. Bugg, a San Antonio investment banker, is a member of the McCain campaign's South Texas finance committee. He said victories by former Arkansas Gov.

Well, it's almost time for me to head off to Australia. Tomorrow, actually, but this might be my last chance to get in a blog before then. I will try to blog while there but won't promise. Christmas is over and it was quite a pleasant one. My son visited from Las Vegas and he said he had a good time. It looks like he is set on going back to college full time to qualify as an accountant. He did one class last semester and got an A, so it looks like he should do OK in that field. He has quite a bit of money coming to him for education from the time he spent in the United States Air Force; at least enough for about two years of college. We spent Christmas Eve morning at my wife's parents then headed to Pensacola Beach, Florida to where my wife's sister and family live. Lots of gifts were handed around and we all ate and drank too much.
Get TechWeb's RSS Feed
RSS is an Internet format that gives you a new way to quickly and easily access Web-based headlines, blurbs, and article links from a wide variety of sources. It's most often used for showing the latest headlines from online newspapers, magazines, weblogs, and vendor and technology information sites. Using Automatic Discovery To access an RSS feed, you need a software program known as a news aggregator or RSS reader. If you already have a news aggregator and it supports auto-discovery, you can usually add an RSS link for a given site by using your aggregator to surf the home page of that Web site. Adding An RSS Link Manually When auto-discovery doesn't work, the manual process is easy enough: 1. Copy the RSS feed link from the content site.
Services needed to break young user cycle
TEENAGERS are dying and families are being torn apart due to a lack of services for adolescent drug addicts, campaigners have claimed. A shortage of detox facilities for teenagers, a lack of mental health beds, no proper aftercare for teen drug users when they come out of treatment along with limited accommodation facilities for recovering addicts are combining to create a crisis within Ireland's adolescent population. While services for teenage addicts improved in recent years, much of a 2005 government-sponsored report on the problem remains to be implemented. Professionals have identified the lack of residential detox facilities, specifically earmarked for adolescents, as a key weakness in the State's battle against drug addiction. Two of the country's main drug treatment centres, Beaumount Hospital and Cuan Dara in Dublin, have no designated detox programmes or beds for under-18s.
A Neolib New Deal?:
Omigod, not the Web site! Will Saletan argues the fuss over Lieberman's downed Web site shows the Internet has "arrived" as a force in politics: ... [I]n the election's final hours, the Lieberman campaign treated the crash of its Web site as fatal sabotage, and the media and law enforcement took the charge seriously. Losing your Web site on Election Day is now regarded as the equivalent of having your phones jammed or your TV ads rejected by stations. Even for campaigns that don't use it well, the Web has become not just an asset, but a necessity. Hmmm. Here's an alternative theory: Lieberman "treated the crash of its Web site as fatal sabotage" because that was a great anti-Lamont story for him to have in the headlines during the last 24 hours of the campaign! I doubt the Web site was particularly vital to the incumbent senator's old-fashioned campaign.
Duluth man leading in baseball playoffs’ ‘sexiest fan’ contest
Another drawback to the Atlanta Braves not snagging a spot in the playoffs? Duluth residents like Chris Piela think it's actually OK to root for the Boston Red Sox. Not only that, as of Wednesday afternoon Piela was the top vote-getter on People magazine's and Major League Baseball's "Sexest Fan Alive" contest online. Piela has a comfortable lead in the contest with 20,203 votes. As his wife, who nominated Piela, explains: "He is amazingly good-looking, extremely fit, a wonderful husband, and even more importantly, the best father." There are currently eight other finalists in the competition. The winner will score a pair of tickets to the World Series and be featured in an ad in People's annual "Sexiest Man Alive" issue. The voting continues through Oct.

An entire year of missteps in the life of Britney Spears
She is taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for 72 hours of observation, and according to a Los Angeles Police Department spokesman, appears to be under the influence of some substance and seems to not have eaten or slept in days. Reports say, however, that Spears tests clean for drugs and alcohol. But Friday afternoon, a judge gave full custody of the boys to their father and completely suspended Spears' visitation rights.
