Attorney general warns of widespread banking scam

A new identity theft scheme is targeting Texans and their financial institutions, according to the Texas Attorney General's Office. Spoof e-mails are directing Amarillo National Bank customers — who have been one of the biggest targets of this latest scam — to call a telephone number and confirm their personal information. Customers who make the call do not actually reach their hometown banker, but instead end up on the telephone with a scam artist who wants to steal their identity. This type of scam, also known as "phishing," typically involves e-mails that falsely appear to have been sent by trusted and well-known institutions, such as large banks or popular Internet-based merchants, such as eBay and PayPal. In the latest twist, however, identity thieves are clearly targeting Texans by posing as trusted local institutions. The Office of the Attorney General first learned of the Amarillo National Bank scam when its own employees received a series of e-mails with the subject line: "New Message From Amarillo National Bank." The e-mails read, in part:We recently reviewed your account, and we suspect an unauthorized ATM based transaction.

Chris Clark committed to Aberdeen

But I wouldn't like to find myself getting stale and letting myself down. I'll carry on as normal and if I'm playing for Aberdeen next week I'll do what I've done throughout my career and put in everything I've got."

The league encounter between these two sides only a week previously had ended in a goalless draw, but Aberdeen ensured after only three minutes that would not be the case again. Lee Miller's knock down to Steve Lovell was ferried on to Barry Nicholson and, when his shot was parried by Tim Krul, Jamie Smith swept in the rebound.

Falkirk skipper Darren Barr headed in the equaliser barely a minute later from Pedro Moutinho's corner, only for Lovell to touch Miller's pass past Krul to restore Aberdeen's lead in the 10th minute.

Falkirk dominated the second half as they sought an equaliser and it finally came in the 73rd minute as midfielder Arnau Riera headed in Carl Finnigan's cross.

Unversity Place litigation settled

The bedroom ceiling now needs replacement and it turns out to be asbestos. My home is a construction zone, and my husband and I are sleeping downstairs not an easy place for me to get with the hurt knee.

I smashed my little finger in one of those theater seats in the Senate gallery. I got scooped by the Lewiston Tribune. I got double-booked on a dinner I set up for the family gathering and am scrambling to cancel caterers and reschedule the whole thing elsewhere. I missed a grant deadline. My knee brace tore a hole in my favorite black pants. My cat brought in a live bird that my husband cornered in the house the next day, and Im still finding feathers. I missed most of the best ski season in years, and the doctor says my knee wont be ready for windsurfing until August despite my cherished goal of June.
